Years ago I fell in love with this series by Janet Evanovich. As a mood reader, it's a great compliment to an author that I read the first 5 books in this series back to back, out of breath waiting for the next unwritten one. Unfortunately, this series fell out of favor after about book 9 or so. I'm up to date with the series but I no longer go out of my way to read the books soon after being released. It's really a shame when this happens. I guess authors lose touch with the heart of the series or they start believing their own press!
Now, as I'm going down memory lane listening to the first Stephanie Plum book years after reading it, I remember how much I loved these characters, the humor, and the romantic tension.
As a side note, the earlier audiobooks read by CJ Critt are so much better than the current narrator, apparently preferred by Evanovich. I've seen many readers disappointed with this change and I'm signing up for that opinion too.

I loved the earlier books in this series, too. I think I lost interest at #8 or #9. I haven't read any of the recent books and doubt I will. Oh, well. There are plenty of other books out there.
If you want to try a new series, Robert Parker's "Sunny Randall" books are quite good. She's a bit like Stephanie, but is more intelligent and less of a klutz. :)
I will never lose interest in these books. Even if they are not as good as they used to be, they are my comfort reads and I just enjoy being with the characters again. Sort of like family - sometimes you want to throw them off a cliff, but most of the time you are happy they are still around!
My husband still likes them also - he is always asking - when is that numbers lady coming out with a new one - LOL!
