Review: Line of Scrimmage by Marie Force

Sports-themed romances come along too infrequently. Line of Scrimmage is set in the world of professional football. I thought it was wonderful and look forward to more books from this debut author. The hero and heroine were both very likable and their romantic journey was so well done. This book was HOT. Ryan was very sexy and would have been perfect if he hadn't been wearing a Stetson much of the time! LOL If he had to wear a hat, I would have much preferred a baseball cap, but that's just me. My only quibble was with the antagonists. They were very one-note and went over the top at the end.

This will be a re-read some day, which is rare for me.

Rating: A-

12/31/08 Note: I guess "some day" came sooner than I thought. I forgot I had requested this book from both of the library systems I use. It became available at the second one so I thought I'd re-read it. I was delighted in it again and devoured it in less than a day. I am planning on getting this book either through trade or at the store some day as it really is a keeper. I just love the hero and heroine and their honest, heart-felt journey back to each other.

Review: In Bed with the Devil by Lorraine Heath

Despite having many of Lorraine Heath's books, this is only the second one I've read and the first historical. It took me a while to get into it but it was a quick read.

Although I liked hero Luke, I don't usually care for stories with such tortured heroes. In fact, so many characters are tortured in this book and it was darker, really, than what I prefer in romances. In the end, I'm still not sure how much I liked the heroine, Catherine. Without giving anything away, I didn't like a choice she made with Luke, based on the circumstances.

I think I read somewhere that this is the beginning of a new series and will feature other characters from this book. I'm not sure how interested I will be in that. The other characters either weren't very likable or were a bit bland.
